We are developing methods based on computer vision that can be used to characterize biological organisms and detect anomalies.
Characterization of Spinal Cord Damage Based on Automatic Video Analysis of Frog Swimming
Frogs are a widely used organism to study many aspects of modern biology. Its central nervous system is particularly interesting, as in certain stages of metamorphosis it can regenerate its spinal cord after injury and recover swimming. Therefore, research into automatic gait analysis is important to advance in the understanding of these regenerative mechanisms. In this project, we develop a method based on computer vision that automatically and quantitatively establishes the degree of limb movement can be used to evaluate the regeneration performance.
